Virginia SOL Coach – End of Course Writing Coach, Grades 9-12
Our SOL End-of-Course Writing Coach begins with an overview of the SOL Writing Test, composition types, components of good writing, and rubrics used to score student writing. Instruction incorporates basic, higher-level, and critical thinking skills, and includes guided practice examples that illustrate the correct thinking process behind a good composition.
All lessons reinforce planning, composing, revising, and editing, and encourage students to meet composition, written expression, and usage/mechanics rubrics. Students receive ample practice and exposure to various composition types: Narrative, Persuasive, Expository, and Informational.
